We invite you to visit the Tahiti Tourism’s website : www.tahiti-tourisme.pf . There, you will find general information about Polynesia (history, geography, culture, ...), islands information, eco-tourism, activities, honeymoons, cruises, charters and links to the foreign websites of Tahiti Tourism.
The Pacific Franc
The currency used in French Polynesia is the Pacific franc (F CFP or XPF).
It is linked to the Euro by a fixed rate :
1 Euro = 119.33 F CFP
As AIR TAHITI publishes its tariffs in F CFP, you can easily obtain their value in Euros.
If you buy your AIR TAHITI ticket in a foreign currency, the rate of exchange applied by the travel agency will be equal to the IATA rate published quarterly (which they will consult in their reservation system) and in effect on the date of ticketing.
It is uncommon to find F CFP outside of Polynesia, except in the entry points cities such as Los Angeles, Auckland, Sydney ...
On Tahiti and the outlying islands, foreign currencies can be exchanged in some hotels, banks and some currency exchange offices. Commissions being relatively high, consider using credit cards which are widely accepted, and ATMs in Tahiti.
