Joies d’enfance Naviguer est une chose, mettre la tête sous l’eau en est une autre. Un des points forts de toute visite de Taha’a est la «descente» du Jardin de Corail. Il en existe deux, mais le plus connu se situe entre le motu Maharare et le motu Tautau, sur lequel est construit Le Taha’a Island Resort & Spa, vitrine haut de gamme de l’art de vivre polynésien, auréolé du prestigieux label «Relais & Châteaux». Car il s’agit bien d’un voyage parmi les émotions de l’enfance, redevenues vives et joyeuses, lorsque - emporté par un courant soutenu, dans 50 centimètres d’une eau limpide,

équipé d’un masque et d’un tuba - on semble devenir le témoin de toute la vie aquatique la plus colorée et mutine qui puisse exister. Chaque poisson, chaque corail, chaque anémone et chaque oursin semble s’ingénier à se différentier des autres, par sa couleur, ses prouesses, sa vivacité ou son immobilité. Il existe ainsi, tout autour de l’île, plusieurs sites parfaitement accessibles pour l’exploration du lagon, que ce soit en restant en surface, dans un environnement totalement sécurisé, ou lors de plongées sous-marines étonnantes, telles la plongée dite du Trou de la Pieuvre. Ainsi, en spéléologie aquatique sous le platier qui sépare Taha’a et Raiatea, en plongeant au milieu des stalactites, plutôt jaunes, deux salles différentes se laissent explorer par les plongeurs les plus audacieux. Encore une occasion de renouer avec les émotions fortes de l’enfance, avec la découverte d’un monde inconnu et saisissant.

All around the island, there are many fully accessible sites for exploring the lagoon, either while remaining on the surface, in a completely safe environment, or during surprising underwater diving, such as the dive called the “Hole of the Octopus”. Thus, when you dive under the flat reef between Raiatea and Taha'a, you find yourself among mostly yellow stalactites, and the most daring divers can explore two different rooms.
